Poetess the great Smt Shanta Shelke
Two days back sahyadri had telecast a fine interview of Marathi poetess Late Smt Shanta Shelke very interesting ,engaging ,
informative, & straight from heart .She quoted a lot of sanskrit poetry & translations stating influences on her poetic journey mentioning how poetry,lyrics writing & writing on a tune was challenging. How she re wrote lyrics several times, commenting on dialects, folk lores, & even composers who played lot of tunes & music to inspire her till a good sequence emerged :-) Sudhir Nandgaonkar poet & lyricist was all politeness & pleasant. With a knack to extract what was needed :-)

Asey Deo sir amhala suraanni trupta samrudhdh kareet gelele ..ahet ani apan
matra ,alipt ani shant pane ha sagla sohala pahaat astaat !

My achievements !
I sang at the film music competition of the Sur singar samsaf in 1995
1996 i performed at Mangeshi, Shanta Durga Mahalasa (samrat club classical vocal ) and Sawai werem temples .
I am very thankful to Lt shri Vireshwar Gautam who gave me these opportunities having heard Smt Shobha Gurtu Praise me at her concert at Maharashtra Darshan cultural fest which was held by Vivekini I had compered the program and composed " Mangala Desha " in several ragas conducting a complete choir and instrumental ensemble ...under the guidance of Pt Vijay Raghav Rao . After she heard me sing the vivekini prayer which is in Desh "Is ladki ne mera dil khush ker diya she said " with her Shri Aneesh Pradhan and Pt Purushottam Walawalker had witnessed me feeling the happiness within :D and Vireshwar every one knows was an excelant kathak dancer and thumari singer, as well as good at his lecture demonstrations :D I sang two days with Well known classical dancer Smt Meenakshi Seshadree at Pune Mahotsav same year i.e. 1996 and at this Ballet which I remember was on the 10th of sept .at Nehru Centre !
In 1998 we did recordings for the film "Daulat "
1998 and 1999 I sang at P Madhukar Mahotsav bori ,Pt Jitendra Abhisheki smruti samaroh Vasco , and
Virnoda
Since, 2000 i was singing hin classical and light mus. hindi and marathi on the All India radio Mumbai
2003 I gave a playback for konkani serial " aparajita " starring Kawalljeet and Renuka shahane which came on National channel
4 sept 2004 I sang at Shanmukhananda sangeet sabha Paluskar Mahotsav
In 2005 I had sung at SRA youth festival...
In the year 2000 I performed at khadpabhand, Shanta Durga Jatra Utsav and Bori temples which lengthy concerts
In 2000 I gave a demonstration on Pt Dinanath Mangeshkars style of Natya sangeet songs were Shanta
daanta and Aapada rajya pada ( guided by guru pt Tulsidas Borkar ) .
Same year we did a program at guru Pournima which had acts with dialogues and music from Plays Swayamwer and Soushay kallol with Sharad Khadilkar and Vinayak Prabhu !
"Reen te farikpanache " konkani film was released in 2008 at Kala acaedemi Goa !
My Grand Guru :D Manik Verma
My gurus guru was Lt Smt Manik Verma a disciple of Lt Pt Jagannath bua Purohit...
She had a clear tuneful and tayyar riyazi voice We could say whatever she sang was thoughtfully arranged
rendered so simply with ease and yet so difficult to repeat...She sang ...in G sharp as she had told me when
sarala tai sent me to her so that I get the best Guru as she thought then and and Manik tai expressed what is
your note child ?I said a sharp and she declined teaching me since the note differed...then ...
What I have seen or heard through recordings or cassettes shows how Manik tai sang full of emotions and
the harkats or lovely clustres of notes seemed magical :D Her style varied according to the genre...Thumri
had her special touches and Natyasangeets had the typical taans ...and bhajans and bhavgeets were sung like
one thought just what they should be sung like .Tears would roll down our eyes when we heard " ghananeela
ladiwala....or sawalach ranga tujha would make one smile....and amrutahuni goad ....would take one into
samadhi....the ghazal chedilees tu would make one think what skills she is gifted with....such expertise a!!!
and Well ...." Balasager tumhi weer shiromani was par excellance....No wonder she was in the group of then
top level performers touring and also taking good care of her family too...:D
